MY TRIBUTE TO

JOSEPH "JOEFACE" ESSELMAN

I would like to write a special tribute to a special person that I was fortunate enough to share my life with for a short time.  His name was Joseph “Joeface” Esselman.  But, I called him JE.  He was my very best friend, the love of my life and My Shining Star.

There were many obstacles that he had to conquer in his time here on earth.  A stone fish sting, in Guam, while he was in the Navy, a horrific car crash that left him with a TBI (traumatic brain injury), thirty (30) automobile accidents (of which only 3 where his fault).

And every day he would wake up to his demons and they would try to bring him down.  As hard as they tried, he would not let them succeed.  He continued to go forward every day, even when he wanted to call it quits.   But, with his amazing strength, character and fortitude he did manage to go forward every day.

He was a people person.  He always had a kind word whenever he met someone.  He cared more about other people than he cared about himself.  One of his favorite sayings was that “It is not about me, but about US.”

His thoughts usually were always about the other person.  No matter what or how he felt that particular day, he would make sure that he gave hope and inspiration to anyone and everyone that came across his path.  He would smile and say with a big smile on his face, “I give you Hawaiian inspiration, HA”!

He had a smile as big as all outdoors.  And when he smiled at you, one could feel a warm glow all over.  And when he was talking with someone he would say things like Smiles, Great New Day, and Be Safe in Your Travels or even Cool Beans.

I am sitting here smiling now thinking of the many times I heard him say those very words to me and to the people he met on his daily walks of life.  He wanted to make sure that he brought joy and laughter into your day.

He was an honest man.  And he expected the same thing from the people in his life.  It hurt him when people that he loved were not honest with him.

It also hurt him when people pulled away from him because they did not understand him. Those who knew him, nothing need be said. For those who didn’t know him, nothing could be said. He also would be hurt when people befriended him just to take advantage of him somewhere down the line.

He lived life to the fullest.   He loved new experiences and sometimes he would push the ticket just to see how far he could go.  He experienced more in his short life than some people would ever experience in two life times or maybe even three.

His was a kind and gentle soul.  I loved and admired this truly awesome man.

Shine On Brightly My Shining Star!

I Love You With All Of My Heart and Soul!

If we want a love message to be heard, it has to be sent out.  To keep a lamp burning, we have to keep putting oil in it for it to continue to burn a bright message...

Hello friends, I am the creator of this website.  My name is Joeface. I was nicknamed Joeface because JJ (who was 5 at the time) could not say Joseph whenever he tried to say my name.  He threw the shovel down and said "I will call you Joeface because I can’t say your name.  Smiling as I think of that story, after he nicknamed me Joeface, we shoveled snow during the big blizzard on April 1st 1996 (April Fools Day).

I woke with a traumatic brain injury(TBI).   I was given motivation to make this website by waking to the death of my finance, Amber(Fiah) Morin 8/16/07 in my bed.  She died because they said medication over dose. She took no drugs in my presents

I am personally a survivor of a coma, a stonefish sting(which is the 2nd deadliest fish in the ocean), 31 auto accidents where 3 were actually my fault.  I was the victim of 2 stabbings, (mugged), paralyzed on the right side (3 times), I had a weight gain to 300lbs and I had a 40" waist.  Because of incompetent doctors, I had to deal with substance abuses where I had many side effects such as emotional, behavioral issues, skin rashes, teeth, eye, hearing, digestion, memory, organizational problems.

I also had to deal with repeated abuses by the law enforcement.  I was highly medicated many thoughts of go home and friends called the police thinking that I would hurt myself by committing suicide. THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN for I am not selfish nor self centered.

My name is the only true value I have as a human being. But, it has been tarnished greatly by the lies and false stories about me. Those who know me, nothing need be said. For those who don’t know me, nothing can be said. I continue to survive the life given to me.  Most of my issues were caused by me being in the wrong place at the wrong time and being under the influence of many medications (given to me by incompetent doctors) that I  never needed.

I have over come all of these negative issues by the many positive affirmations by my mother Liesel Hart and the many, many friends that I have come in contact with in my daily walk of life.  Most important is my BELIEF in SELF. I know I can do anything I set my mind too.  If we think and act upon our goals, we can accomplish anything.  Think it, visualize it and it will happen.  It is thought.

In the coming months, as we are laying down the foundation of this site.

We hope to offer, A place to get some good thoughts plus many suggestions to embellish our everyday life and give you direction to where you can get the answers you need. Information and links to help you with your personal goal(s)
and questions can be answered in:

 In Health- nutrition, exercise, rest,
In Spirituality- Belief in self, be open-minded, excepting
In Substance abuse- Drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, foods
In Grieving- deaths, suicides, accidents, murder
In Relationships- divorce, break-ups, lack of communication

Give your suggestions to questions you have about anything. Especially those questions that you were never comfortable enough to ask in a open forum. Ask them here. By the same token, we hope each of you will want to participate in and
contribute your thoughts and ideas however you can.

For example, perhaps one of you out there living in cyberville (a more intimate place than cyberspace!), might want to help us with the mechanics of organizing this site itself. Some of you may want to contribute in other ways. . . with
financial gifts Helping us keep this site for us(we need your help), and various writings, poems, thoughts, etc.

All comments and constructive criticisms are welcome.  Please give us your opinion on this site. Please, we need help from you that can see the power of the internet  and how this can help so many like you and myself. I would like to set
up this website to that cover many topics of every day life... Thank you , Joeface

MY FRIEND JOEFACE written by Debbie Mylek

I have a friend Joseph, whose nickname is Joeface.  For whatever reason, he and I made a connection and we have become very close.

When we first started talking, he told me about a terrible accident that he had been through where he ended up being in a coma.  He was lucky though because he came out of the coma.  Sometimes, he feels lucky that he came out of the coma, but sometimes he doesn’t feel so lucky.  But, he came out of the coma a changed man.  He now had to start his life over.  In a way, Joseph was reborn.  He had to learn to read, write, walk and talk all over again.

As if all of that was not enough, he also had a new problem.   He was now labeled with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).  With this new label attached to his name where ever he went, Joseph’s life was to become so different from his life before the accident.  People would think about Joseph in a new light.

Some of his family and friends, doctors, police, etc. at times didn’t know how to deal with him and sometimes wrong decisions have been made in different situations.

Sometimes family and former friends not knowing how to deal with him have avoided him altogether.  It was easier for them.  But, did they ever think about the hurt and pain that it caused Joseph?

On another note, concerning friends was it now easier for some of them to take advantage him.  Did some of them think that now because he had a TBI and sometimes all of his thoughts were not always clear because of the many medications that he was on, that he was a good target for some of their schemes and that it was acceptable to rip him off?

Various doctors have prescribed multiple medications, which makes one wonder.  Were all the medications needed or was it easier to overmedicate him so that he would be easier to deal with?  Were all the medications prescribed for Joseph necessary?  And when he had more than one doctor, did they all take the time to make sure that there wasn’t any kind of drug that would have any adverse effects on his well being.

And any other figure of authority that he had to run up against in his daily life, whether it be the police or whomever, did they deal with him as a criminal or off the wall or crazy first?  Why wasn’t he listened to when he tried to explain to some of them that he has a TBI?  When he showed them a card that he was told to present to people when there were problems and that would help him explain any misunderstandings, why didn’t anyone try to understand. These are some things that I know about what he deals with on a daily basis.  I know that he told me that he had been in a coma, but I never really knew what the ramifications of his being in a coma actually meant.

I am now clearer about what it means for a person to have a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).  Mind you, that I am not smug enough to think that I know what Joseph or any other person who has a TBI has to totally deal with.  Or has had to deal with on their road to recovery. But because Joseph trusted me enough to give me glimpses of what his life has been like and is like now.  I have a better understanding and here are some of the things that he related to me.   I know that he has a broken record going on in his head that he has a hard time calming down.  Sometimes his thoughts get totally jumbled up in his head.  How do I know this?  Because he explained this to me and I listened.  I have seen how sometimes he gets so frustrated with people in his life.  And for a lot of people his frustration comes out in what they all perceive to be in negative ways.  So he ends up getting more frustrated and angrier.  And they walk away from him.  The easy way out for them all always.

He has told me about how he has pain in his body.  Some of the pain is from his accidents and some of the pain is from his confrontations with the police.  Pain on his side, where at one time he was partially paralyzed.  Pain in his head.  The bottom line is that I have admired him since I started talking to him.  Through all of what he has been through and continues to go through on a daily basis, he has such a positive attitude.  At times he ended up on the dark side of life, but he continues to be such a sparkling force to so many people.  He definitely has been a sparkling force in my life.

My self Joseph Esselman. Lives as a survivor of a traumatic brain injury(TBI). I give the most thanks to the actions of love giving by my mother .  I also give thanks to the many many friends I have through out our wonderful Mother earth.  I believe in my self and faith knowing I do my best for US. What makes me different from you/US is I have my own free will of basic thoughts.

4.17.10 Smiles good new day. My hope is that you never suffer like I have. I am laughing, as I hear you ask wow why so many crashes? I reply because of our

ignorance not paying attention to our own self. Most thinking they know more then us of the knowing.

I see the look on your face of being unsettled. I say excuse me, please do you have a minute to explain myself?

I used to travel miniumally 1500 miles as the number 1 Master hearing specialist in the USA. Really, I know hearing loss isnt a death sentence nor is it

something we as people think about. In reality there are so many human issues because of having a hearing impairment. The majority of my patient were of the

age of 85 plus. I smile, as you are interupting me speaking. and start talking about your parents and their TV blasting when you visit. I listen to what you

say. When you break in telling me I jump up to finish what I was explaining. Living with a traumatic brain injury, I lose focus and go off tangent. My voice

and facial exspressions are not as I am truely feeling, but you not knowing without having knowledge and being learned STOP listening to me.

excuse me of our ignorance.

"Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't
wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored."

4.13.10 Smiles, Thank you safe travels.

4.06.10:

I love you with all of my heart and soul.   You are the most important person in my life.   I want you to remember how important and special you are everyday.

You have to keep the faith.   You are going to get better.   Something I keep hearing and reading about.   You have to keep visualizing that you are going to get well.   Because this replaces the negative thoughts of the illness.   So, sometime during the day, close your eyes and imagine that thought about how you will feel when you are well.

2.23.10:
The Bottom Line

While making mistakes with money is always painful, paying a few "school fees" now and then doesn't have to be a total loss. If you analyze your mistakes and learn from them, you might very well make the money back next time. All investors, even Warren Buffett, must acknowledge that mistakes will be made along the way

2.19.10: The Four Fools in the Cave

Four persons decided to go into silence. They moved into a cave; they wanted to live in silence for three months, because they had heard so much about it -- they had become so much intrigued. They were so ambitious to gain something out of it. It was not understanding that had brought them to the cave. It was greed, it was desire, ambition.

Hence within minutes everything was exposed. Just within minutes the first man said, "I wonder whether I have put the candle out or not? It will be a sheer wastage, there is nobody in the house."
The second one said, "You fool! You have spoken! And we have taken the vow of silence."
The third one laughed and said, "You are a greater fool! If he had spoken, what was the need for you to speak?"

And the fourth one said, "Thank God, I am the only one who has not spoken yet."

Just by being silent nothing changes, you remain the same. Transformation comes through awareness. Awareness brings a silence of its own, very alive, throbbing with eternity, full of a song. It is not sad and not serious because it is not dead, it has a dance to it. It is tremendously beautiful, it is positive, existential. It does not make you just a hollow thing. It makes you so full that you start overflowing with joy. You become so fulfilled that you cannot contain your contentment within yourself, you have to share it. You become a cloud full of rainwater. You have to shower it.

2.14.10:
“The Oak Tree”

A Message of Encouragement

A mighty wind blew night and day.

It stole the oak tree’s leaves away,

Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark

Until  the oak was tired and stark.

But still the oak tree held its ground

While other  trees fell all around.

The weary wind gave up and spoke,

“How can you still be standing, Oak?”

The oak tree said, “I know that you

Can break each branch of mine in two,

Carry every leak away,

Shake my limbs, and make me sway.

But I have roots stretched in the earth,

Growing stronger since my birth.

You’ll never touch them, for you see,

They are the deepest part of me.

Until today, I wasn’t sure

Of just how much I could endure.

But now I’ve found, with thanks to you,

I’m stronger than I ever knew.

Especially now,

Try to remember

That you’re stronger

than any problem you encounter

or any disappointment

 life will bring.

JE, you are just like the oak tree.  No matter, what life has thrown at you, you still stand tall and you continue to go forward.  One of the many, many reasons that I am so very proud of you every single day.  Happy Valentines Day to the most special person in my life.

.2.09.10:
6 ways to live a lot longer partner

by Liz Vaccariello,

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re going to live a long life—centenarians (folks who make it into the triple digits) increased 51% from 1990 to 2000, which certainly bodes well for us younger folks. Advances in health, education, and disease prevention and treatments are mostly to account for this dramatic leap, but there are loads of little everyday (read: easy) things you can do that will seriously improve your longevity. Here are 6 to try today:

1) Add raspberries to your oatmeal

Most Americans eat 14 to 17 g of fiber per day; add just 10 grams more and reduce your risk of dying from heart disease by 17%, according to a Netherlands study. Dietary fiber helps reduce total and LDL ("bad") cholesterol, improve insulin sensitivity, and boost weight loss. One easy fix: Top your oatmeal (1/2 cup dry has 4 g fiber) with 1 cup of raspberries (8 g) and you get 12 g of fiber in just one meal. Other potent fiber-rich foods: 1/2 cup of 100% bran cereal (8.8 g), 1/2 cup of cooked lentils (7.8 g), 1/2 cup of cooked black beans (7.5 g), one medium sweet potato (4.8 g), one small pear (4.3 g).

2) Drink green or black tea

Both green and black teas contain a concentrated dose of catechins, substances that help blood vessels relax and protect your heart. In a study of more than 40,500 Japanese men and women, those who drank 5 or more cups of green tea every day had the lowest risk of dying from heart disease and stroke. Other studies involving black tea showed similar results. You really need only 1 or 2 cups of tea daily to start doing your heart some good—just make sure it's a fresh brew. Ready-to-drink teas (the kind you find in the supermarket beverage section) don't offer the same health benefits. "Once water is added to tea leaves, their catechins degrade within a few days," says Jeffrey Blumberg, PhD, a professor of nutrition science and policy at Tufts University. Also, some studies show that adding milk may eliminate tea's protective effects on the cardiovascular system, so stick to just lemon or honey.

Add this to your tea for a heart-healthy boost

3) Swap seltzer for soda

Scientists in Boston found that drinking one or more regular or diet colas every day doubles your risk of metabolic syndrome--a cluster of conditions, including high blood pressure, elevated insulin levels, and excess fat around the waist—that increase your chance of heart disease and diabetes. Controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels, preventing diabetes, and not smoking can add 6 to 9 1/2 healthy years to your life.

One culprit could be the additive that gives cola its caramel color, which upped the risk of metabolic syndrome in animal studies. Scientists also speculate that soda drinkers regularly expose their tastebuds to natural or artificial sweeteners, conditioning themselves to prefer and crave sweeter foods, which may lead to weight gain, says Vasan S. Ramachandran, MD, a professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and the study's lead researcher.

Better choices: Switch to tea if you need a caffeine hit. If it's fizz you're after, try sparkling water with a splash of juice.

Thirst quenching smoothies

4)  Eat purple food

Concord grapes, blueberries, red wine: They all get that deep, rich color from polyphenols—compounds that reduce heart disease risk and may also protect against Alzheimer's disease, according to research. Polyphenols help keep blood vessels and arteries flexible and healthy. "What's good for your coronary arteries is also good for your brain's blood vessels," says Robert Krikorian, PhD, director of the Cognitive Disorders Center at the University of Cincinnati. Preliminary animal studies suggest that adding dark grapes to your diet may improve brain function. What's more, in a recent human study, researchers found that eating 1 or more cups of blueberries every day may improve communication between brain cells, enhancing your memory.

5) Walk instead of drive

"Fit" people--defined as those who walk for about 30 minutes a day--are more likely to live longer than those who walk less, regardless of how much body fat they have, according to a recent study of 2,603 men and women. Similarly, overweight women can improve their heart health by adding just 10 minutes of activity to their daily routine, says recent research. So take a walk on your lunch hour, do laps around the field while your kid is at soccer practice--find ways to move a little more, every day.

Walk off 5 times more belly fat

6) Say yes to your next invite

Outgoing people are 50% less likely to develop dementia, according to a recent study of more than 500 men and women ages 78 and older from the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. Participants also described themselves as not easily stressed. Researchers speculate that their more resilient brains may be due to lower levels of cortisol--studies show that oversecretion of this "stress hormone" can inhibit brain cells' communication.

2.05.10: Where Do You Go for Your Intellectual Feast?

Pity the man who has a favorite restaurant, but not a favorite author. He’s picked out a favorite place to feed his body, but he doesn’t have a favorite place to feed his mind!

Why would this be? Have you heard about the accelerated learning curve?
From birth, up until the time we are about eighteen, our learning curve is dramatic, and our capacity to learn during this period is just staggering. We learn a tremendous amount very fast. We learn language, culture, history, science, mathematics... everything!

For some people, the accelerated learning process will continue on. But for most, it levels off when they get their first job. If there are no more exams to take, if there’s no demand to get out paper and pencil, why read any more books? Of course, you will learn some things through experience. Just getting out there—sometimes doing it wrong and sometimes doing it right—you will learn.

~ Jim Rohn

2.04.10:   What a interesting thing I learned today. I wanted to take a walk on the good ole tread walker in the back part of the shack I live in now.  Well let me tell yah.
This ole shack isn’t as modern as I would have liked and the electrical outlet is the ole 2 prong type and the plug on the tread walker is a 3 prong.   Well let me tell you living with a TBI I said DAM!!! (this is what the fish said when it hit the wall)  I called De to ask where the plug adapter was?  She told me it was in the pie safe in the front of the house.  I was like what heck is that? She explained to me where it was and that it was a pie safe.  This is where in the ole days they kept the pies stored.  I found the adapter and went for a walk on the tread walker.

Sadly there was no good ole apple pie from Mom in the pie safe for aftah the walk, but I now know what a pie safe is laughing ty.

2.03.10: Smiles, good new day to you. The other day I was talking to a Doctor. He gave me his card with number on it and said if I ever had questions to call him. I explained to him that I called him last week and left a message. I had found the answers to the questions I had when I left the message.

I had also learned when I call him that he was on holiday(vacation to us). I asked him what he did and was it fun? He told me that he and his kids went to Vermont. Knowing, like I know that skiing is big in Vermont, I asked him if he went skiing with his family. He told that they were too young being only 7 months and 2 years of age. We laughed at the comment of the babies I gave him.

I then asked him if he was using the diapers that were made of plastics and recyclable chemical paper at the major brand stores for I am sharing the first products in the world for our women, babies, and the soon many aging baby boomers of US. I told him of the sanitary products for our women. I then went into explaining of the diapers that had health benefits and comfort for the babies.

Laughing I said I was sorry that I went off tangent and started pushing a product I have been sharing for about a year. It is just that he was a Doctor and he should know of this information for the health of his family. I also reinforced with the statement I wasn’t trying to sell him anything but merely sharing the information that I post on our website www.peoplehelpingpeople.us. I took the time to explain that this site wasn’t about me but us and I try to share info that will give us a lengthy life here on mother earth.

Laughing I told him this isn’t our world, that we are only quests for a short time and it was our duty to preserve mother earth for our children and their future. We laughed together as I said I was sorry to sound like preacher. I ended, saying that I know he has many others more in need of his profession as a Doctor and how grateful I was for his return call. We ended our call.

Sitting here now, writing this story. I wondered if he was going to take advantage of the information I shared with him. I know what I have will help and save will save many us frustration with our babies and the women we love.

I again thanked him for the return call. Off again on a tangent, I told how I was the top ranked Master hearing specialist in the USA. I got there by telling my patients they could reach me any time, if they had issues with their hearing prescriptions and offer them my personal telephone number 860-265-3929. I said I was sorry for getting off tangent again, laughing I ended the call.

Thank you for taking your time to read this note. Have a good new day. Be safe in your travels. Knowing 1 second could change your life in ways unimaginable to you unlike me having woke from a coma to relearn life again.

2.02.10: He had more money than 95% of the population of the world. He told me that he could get the best of medication drugs.  He also told me of the best Doctors in their field he had excess too.  This is a few of the words I remember him speaking. I never gave up on our friendship. I watched and listened to him telling his stories of multiple women and travels. I rode in his 100 plus thousand dollar car remembering the looks and the admiration of many who stared at us cruising down 95 at 90 plus mph. he laughed at me when I said the police watched this area heavily. Again you laughed at me making your Mercedes screamed in wind .  We continued to talk of his adventures. He always tried to up one better than me.  I laughed at him saying you cant do what I have done here in this area. I watched as our speed hit 130 mph.  I smile as I type this story for it cost him thousands of dollars. Yes we got pulled over by a grossly obese officer as he waddled over to our shiny black car. Wow I was really surprised at how nicely this officer communicated with us. I am laughing even harder knowing how grateful I was that I kept my mouth shut during the whole situation while pulled over.  That was a first as you reminded me of another time I got arrested for laughing.  Another story in time

Smiles I am grateful I remember this. I told him then and I’ll say this now.  The drugs will kill you if you don’t live by the basic instructions before leaving earth. I am crying now as I watch them pile the dirt onto the box that will hold you till mother earth decays you.  It is true you will never be forgotten as my friend.  I am sorry that you thought you and your money knew more then what that book you called silly laughing at me.  Rock on dude.  You taught me a lot.

2.01.10: DE and I were sitting on the beach in Maui enjoying the sun, sea air, and the ocean, while we waited for the end of the day and the awesome sunset.  All during our vacation this became our daily ritual.

One day, we happened to notice a man and his daughter walking and exploring the beach.  They walked by us, then the man turned around and walked up to us.  I started talking to him and I handed him my Peoplehelpingpeople.us card.  He read the card and then he looked at me.  On my card it states that I am the survivor of a TBI, a traumatic brain injury.  He then told me that he too had a head injury.

We started talking and he asked what brought us to Maui.  We told him that I was suffering with psoriasis and that we were hoping that the sun, sea air and ocean would help me to heal faster.  At least, that was our hope.  I showed him how the psoriasis was ravaging my body and how we have tried all sorts of creams and lotions, but nothing seemed to be working.

That is when he told us of a remedy he had heard of.  He said that this had helped his daughter.  He said to try Crisco shortening.  His daughter was getting restless so we thanked him and said our goodbyes.

Well, we were skeptical to say the least.  Crisco?  Did we want to cure my skin or bake me?  DE laughed and said she was not sure about using Crisco.

A few days later, I was having a real hard time with the itching and what we were using did not seem to be helping at all.  Finally, DE said what the heck, we have tried everything else.  Why not give this a try?  So, off to the market she went and came back with a tub of Crisco.  And I have been using the Crisco ever since.

Thank you, Donny my native american friend. As we took the bus to the airport to come back to CT.  I heard hi Joe feeling better? To my suprise it was Donny. thank you I am grateful for you going out of your way to help us.

1.29.10: What is happening to us ???????????????????????????????????????

  ? Military Fly Over Denied

The real person is now emerging, and he is unfit to even be a
janitor!

Unbelievable, isn't it!!! Everyone needs to see this. I foresee many many
flyovers by the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels being canceled in the next
three years too. Also demonstrations by the Golden Knights and our service
bands. This guy is out of control!!!

Obama denied a military flyover at the annual “God and Country” rally in
Idaho , where new military recruits were inducted and all military were
honored. This is the first time in 42 years that there has not been a
military flyover in formation, and organizers were stunned that Obama
refused to allow this. When the lady organizing the event contacted the
Pentagon to ask why this was not allowed, as it had occurred every year for
42 years, she was told it was because of the event’s “Christian nature.”

The video also mentions that when Obama made a recent speech, a cross and a
Christian symbol for Jesus had to be covered first.

This is beyond unbelievable action by the Commander in Chief and President,
and Americans need to know about it!!!!!!!!!!!!

1.24.10:
Johns Hopkins Update - Good article

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY ('TRY', BEING THE KEY WORD) TO ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY.

Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins :

1.. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion.. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3  When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment.. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water-best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it..

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the bodies own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

1. No plastic containers in micro.

2. No water bottles in freezer.

3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well. Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your plastic bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic. Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Cast le Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us. He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain fat. He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body. Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or ceramic containers for heating food You get the same results, only without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in something else. Pa per isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc. He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons.

Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave.. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food. Cover food with a paper towel instead.
This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your life.

9.18.09:  What a Load!

A busload of politicians were driving down a country road when, all of a sudden, the bus ran off the road and crashed into a tree in an old farmer's field.

The old farmer, after seeing what happened, went over to investigate. He then proceeded to dig a hole and bury the politicians.

A few days later, the local sheriff came out, saw the crashed bus and asked the old farmer where all the politicians had gone.

The old farmer said he had buried them.

The sheriff asked the old farmer, "Were they ALL dead?"

The old farmer replied, "Well, some of them said they weren't, but you know how them politicians lie."

9.13.09: Green Works: Low-Cost Training for an Earth-Friendly Career

The green economy is coming -- some say it's already arrived -- and around the country new jobs and training programs are popping up rapidly, while old jobs are changing to align with sustainable practices. Green services and products are already in demand, and workforce development experts agree that this movement is going to have enormous impact on jobs of every level.

"This will affect all areas of the economy in ways we are only beginning to find out," says Julian L. Alssid, executive director of Workforce Strategy Center (WSC), an East Coast-based organization that consults with economic development agencies and educational institutions to help state and regional economies grow. "If we do this well, green will become a part of every job."

Green enthusiasts believe that blue collar and white collar will one day be ideas of the past, with "green" collar leading the way of the future. Do you know how your job could change to "go green"? And could the green economy present an opportunity for you to increase your marketability and earning power?

Going Green: Opportunities for Low-Cost Training

One of the unique features of the green economy movement is its efforts to include the poor and socially disadvantaged as a starting point for change. According to Marcy Drummond, vice president of workforce and economic development for Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (LATTC), in most economic shifts, "The poor are first to be left behind. We wanted them to be first [to succeed]."

Over the past three years, this LA community college has pioneered team-taught, comprehensive programs aimed at overcoming traditional barriers that underprivileged students have in attaining a degree and long-term, gainful employment. A range of green certifications are available at LATTC, from solar panel installation and weatherization to sustainable architecture and landscaping. Program lengths range from just a couple of weeks to two years for a certificate.

Programs like these aren't solely for the underprivileged, however, and the first place to look for a similar program in your area is your local community college. Drummond says that more and more programs are going to be available in the near future, especially because much of the stimulus money will be funneled to these institutions first.

The Green-Collar Office Job

If you don't work in the energy industry, green may still have an impact on your position. Vicki Krantz, director of business and professional programs at UC San Diego Extension, is seeing that, "Really smart firms are thinking about every stage of the life of their product." And this goes far beyond just production, packaging, and transportation.

UCSD Extension is one of the first institutions to start green training from the business point of view, training students to incorporate sustainability into all levels of an organization. Accountants can take carbon accounting classes to track a company's carbon footprint. Marketers can develop skills in green marketing so that their claims to be a green company are valid. Managers can take classes on how to include sustainability into corporate strategies.

Though a lot of buzz is on emerging clean tech, solar tech, and bio fuels, according to Krantz, the best businesses of any industry are going to set the vision for sustainability and encourage all employees to translate that into their discipline -- from the receptionist who reduces paper use to the CEO who makes fewer business flights each year.

The Green CEO and Entrepreneur

If there's any evidence that the green movement has begun from the ground up, it's shown in how few business leaders are prepared to enter the highly regulated energy field. They want a piece of the pie, though, so they're learning quickly.

Charley Polachi, partner and co-founder of Polachi Inc., has been a member of the steering committee for the Clean Energy Fellowship Program, a course started in early 2008, designed for CEOs and entrepreneurs who want to get into clean tech industries.

The unique feature of clean tech is the degree to which it is regulated -- there are a whole new set of rules and a large infrastructure already in place that business leaders need to understand before jumping in. In the Clean Energy Fellowship Program, entrepreneurs and CEOs learn how to navigate the regulation, come up with funding and develop partnerships with very big companies so that their innovations can become a part of the larger energy infrastructure.

This program was the first of its kind in the country, and admission is highly selective. However, there is a lot of interest in expanding, and other organizations have been looking at the Clean Energy Fellowship program as a model to prepare future green-business leaders.

Green Works: Fast-Track to a Well-Paid Job?

"All you need to know is there's a lot of money, in terms of training," says Alssid of WSC. The stimulus package and consumer demand are supporting huge investments into programs that help to "green" jobs. However, Alssid also cautions, "This is in a totally emergent state ... it will be up to the individual to zero in on those places that are doing this well. So do your homework."

The importance of community colleges shouldn't be underestimated. They have the resources to create programs quickly, and they will be the first to access stimulus funds. Workforce training centers are also great places to ask for help, and every state has their own way of organizing them -- search "your state" and "workforce development" on the Internet to find one in your area. In addition, websites such as GreenForAll.org, CareerVoyages.gov, and Online.OnetCenter.org have excellent information on career outlooks, training programs and financial assistance.

"If you take advantage of this now, it'll be an edge. Within a couple of years it will be standard," predicts Krantz of UCSD Extension. "Don't think of this as a passing fad at all. This is the new normal."

For the underprivileged, the green economy and funding for training present a great opportunity for increased earning potential. For those already in a busy career, going green may be inevitable, so becoming a leader in the movement could pay off long-term.

9.11.09: Using Colors to Change Your World

What’s your favorite color? It’s a question we all have very strong opinions about because colors are powerful in many ways -- for changing mood, expressing emotions, even influencing action. While somewhat controversial, a whole world of modern color research has evolved to help marketers and others use color in productive ways.

One of the most recent pieces of research is from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, that assessed how a red or blue background color on computer screens affected the work of 600 students. When the background was red, students responded with greater recall and attention to detail. When it was blue, they became more creative. According to color therapist Jill Morton of Colorcom in Honolulu, Hawaii, a possible explanation lies in the different wavelengths of the colors, causing people to perceive red objects as moving toward us and blue ones as moving away. She speculates that one reason for the finding was that students may have focused more on close detail work simply to get relief from the aggressiveness of the red background... but of course, it’s hard to know for sure.

COLOR AND HEALING THERAPIES

While modern scientists continue to debate the whys and wherefores of colors, there’s much that can be learned from ancient healing therapies, where colors have revered and established roles.

In the Ayurvedic tradition, it is believed that there are seven energy centers -- the chakras -- that run from the base of the spine to the top of the head. Each chakra is associated with a specific color as well as emotions and parts of the body... and also with a specific element which in turn carries a certain vibrational frequency that correlates to the visible light spectrum. For example, the Muladhara or Root Chakra (red) is governed by the earth element -- red has the slowest frequency of the visual light spectrum and earth has the slowest frequency of the elements.

Diantha Harris, color therapist and author of Simply... Color, told me that color can be used to address challenges on the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. The individual chakras can be balanced with color to help particular issues. There are two ways to do this -- you can enhance a quality by adding a color... for example, more yellow in your day may bring an increased sense of personal power (represented in the third or solar plexus chakra). You could alternatively use a dose of color to offset a problem. If you are struggling with feelings of envy, you can regain balance by adding its complementary color (red) to your environment. Harris suggests some ways to increase the presence of a chakra color in your life: bringing flowers into your home... adding foods of that color to your diet... wearing it (in socks or underclothes if it isn’t one you like)... or using sheets, towels or blankets of the color.

THE CHAKRAS

Briefly, chakras, their colors and associations are as follows:

The Root Red Chakra -- at the base of the spine, associated organs include spine, adrenal glands and others. Red therapy replenishes courage and energy. A red challenge includes anger, frustration and issues with survival including money. Complementary color: green.
The Sacral Orange Chaka -- in the lower abdomen, its organs include reproductive ones and lower intestines. Orange benefits community, connection, creativity and sexuality... it helps to create and support healthy relationships and boundaries, as well as healing shock or trauma. Negative challenges include addiction and moodiness. Complementary color: blue.
The Solar Plexus Yellow Chakra -- near the navel and under the ribcage, its organs are the pancreas and liver. Yellow is for clarity, focus, will or personal power and to help assimilate knowledge and experiences. Negative challenges include an ego that is out of balance and feelings of timidity. Complementary color: purple.
The Heart Green Chakra -- in the center of the chest, its organs are the heart, lungs and thymus gland. Green supports feelings of safety, love and expansion. Negative challenges are envy, bitterness and the need to refocus and regain energy. Complementary color: red.
The Throat Blue Chakra -- in the base of the throat, its associated organs are the thyroid, throat, mouth and neck. This is the color of communication and truth, trust, faith and peace. Negative challenges include isolation, loneliness and depression. Complementary color: orange.
The Third Eye (the Brow) Indigo Chakra -- at the center of the head, between the eyes (third eye). Associated organs are the eyes, brain and pituitary gland. Indigo has to do with higher mind functions of intuition and clairvoyance and it also can be used to enhance meditation. Negative challenges are severe depression or isolation. Complementary color: yellow.
The Crown Violet Chakra -- on the top of the head, associated with the brain and pineal gland. It is the color of healing, as well as spiritual and emotional issues and offers support during times of transition. Negative challenges include loss, grieving and suffering. Complementary color: yellow.
The colors you need at a given time will shift according to events in your life. There are a number of books and Web sites that have information on color and how to incorporate its healing influence. In addition, you can meet with a color therapist to work on using color to improve your life. Sessions generally cost in the $75 to $100 range and you can find a list of holistic healers including those practicing color therapy at The International Wheel of Colour (http://www.wheelofcolour.com/ or http://www.byregion.net/).

9.06.09: Artwork gets onlookers asking - will he jump?

A small crowd of people wonder if the smart businessman clutching a briefcase will jump off the edge of a four-storey building in central Vienna -- but he won't. He can't.

The man, dressed in a grey suit, dark shoes and a black hat, is a life-size plastic art installation, which will be perched atop the office of an investment and real estate company for the next year.

The artist, Austrian Ronald Kodritsch, says the piece -- called "Reason to Believe" -- is not necessarily about suicide.

"It's not interesting whether he will jump or not. It's all about having a different perspective on things and about what might cross his mind," Kodritsch told Reuters. "Hyperrealism is boring!"

Although the man may evoke images of ruined businessmen ending it all in the dire economic climate, the idea for the work came to Kodritsch a year before the banking crisis erupted.

While some passers-by like 23-year-old Verena Kircher found the piece "alarming," others like Caroline van Kelst thought it was beautiful.

"It is crystal clear that this is not a suicide," she said. "He has definitely got something about him which is majestic, not desperate."

9.05.09:  Brain Injury Patients Now Turning to Alternative Medicine for Treatment

Eighty percent feel CAM is effective, however very few discuss use with physician

More patients than ever before with traumatic brain injuries are turning to complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapies to supplement conventional medical care for their injuries. But the majority of these patients are not discussing their use of CAM therapy with their physicians, a new study finds. This new research further revealed that more than 80 percent of the traumatic brain injury patients interviewed believed that CAM therapy, ranging from massage to herbal medicine, were effective, even though there has been very little medical assessment of CAM's efficiency and safety in treating traumatic brain injuries.

The findings, gathered by researchers in the University of Michigan Health System's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, was presented on April 1, 2003 at the American Academy of Neurology's (AAN) annual meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii.

An estimated 5.3 million Americans currently live with disabilities resulting from traumatic brain injury - damage to the brain caused by a sudden physical assault on the head - according to the Centers for Disease Control. And the recovery process can take months or years, depending on the severity of the injury. Often, patients with a traumatic brain injury experience chronic motor and cognitive impairment, in addition to seizures, and sensory and visual deficits, which affect mental and physical functioning.

The chronic nature of traumatic brain injury symptoms, in addition to the lack of definitive treatments for the injury, have turned more patients toward CAM therapies in recent years, says investigator Sharon McDowell, M.D., a lecturer in the U-M Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

It really underlines the high level of frustration that traumatic brain injury patients feel about the chronicity of their problems and the few proven therapies available to them, McDowell explains. However, while there are some good CAM therapies available. Many of which we even recommend such as meditation and manual muscle therapies. But a lot of therapies are not good for patients with this type of injury. So, it was important for us to find out what CAM therapies patients are turning to, especially if they were not doctor-recommended.

In order to assess the prevalence and spectrum of CAM use among individuals with traumatic brain injuries, McDowell and co-investigator Asma Rafeeq, a student at the U-M Medical School, surveyed 130 patients who were randomly selected from a group of patients treated at the U-M Trauma Burn Center for a traumatic brain injury.

During a telephone interview, the patients were asked if they had used any of 16 specific CAM therapies, or any others, for reasons related to their injury. Specifically, they were questioned about the injury-related factors that lead to their use of CAM therapies and their perceived effectiveness of CAM.

Of those surveyed, more than half of the subjects interviewed said that they had used at least one CAM therapy, with more than one-third using two or more CAM therapies.

The patients revealed that the CAM therapies they most commonly utilized were massage therapy, meditation, herbal medicine and chiropractic care. Both massage therapy and chiropractic care were used by patients to treat pain, while meditation was practiced for affective disorders and herbal medicine was taken for cognitive deficits.

Although there were trends in the CAM therapy for certain chronic symptoms resulting from their injury, it did not necessarily dictate which CAM therapies a patient would turn to for their specific type of injury.

McDowell also points out that there was very little evidence found that could predict which factors severity of brain injury, time after injury, gender or ethnicity  would determine if a patient with a traumatic brain injury was more likely to use CAM therapies to supplement his or her conventional care. However, younger patients with higher education levels were more likely to use CAM.

While the majority of the patients surveyed felt that CAM therapies were effective, only half had discussed the topic with their physicians, which is a concern for McDowell.

A lot of patients are embarrassed to tell their doctors, while others don't even realize that the vitamin supplements and other substances they are using can be as active as drugs, which can affect their medical treatment, she says. As a physician, this makes me more aware of the fact that I need to ask my patients about any possible CAM use.

Nevertheless, McDowell stresses that although traumatic brain injury patients have found CAM to be effective, controlled studies are still needed to assess the efficiency and safety of CAM therapies for these patients

9.04.09: Your Calling In Life by Marilyn Meberg

Some of you may be wondering about your personal calling in life. Being married or not being married can indeed be a calling. So can having children or having no children, working outside the home or being a full-time mom, traveling on a job or staying in an office, working out of your home or being president of something, sewing drapes, cooking at the school cafeteria, finding a cure for cancer, or creating a better meat thermometer. Dare I say, your calling in life lies not in what you do but in who you are?

Remember this. Scripture says God created us for the express purpose of giving himself the joy of loving us. In being loved, we return that love. That is who we are: persons loved by God. When we return his love, we do it in a spirit of response that produces service to him. That is what our relationship with him is all about. If we do things for God because we are trying to pay him back, we miss the point of the relationship. We are not asked to earn the relationship; we are asked to receive the relationship.

So what is the call for each of our lives? To receive God’s love and return God’s love. We can experience that in everything we do.

9.03.09: Study: 1 in 10 binge drinkers get on the road

ATLANTA - One in 10 binge drinkers got behind the wheel the last time they drank heavily. And half of those drivers left from a bar, restaurant or nightclub after downing five or more drinks, a new study has found.
The study is being called the first to try to measure the likelihood someone will drive after binge drinking. It suggests a need for stepped-up efforts to prevent bars and restaurants from serving people after they're intoxicated, according to its authors at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The researchers focused on 14,000 "binge drinkers " - people who said that at least once month that they had five or more drinks on a single occasion. About 12 percent said they had gone driving within two hours of their last bout of heavy drinking.
Of those drivers, more than half took the wheel after drinking in a bar, restaurant or other licensed establishment. And half of the drivers who left an establishment said they had seven or more drinks; a quarter said they'd had at least 10.
Some people can handle alcohol better than others, and eating food or drinking over several hours can soften alcohol's impact. But clearly 10 drinks is a lot, said James Fell of the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation, a national research organization focused on alcohol policy.
"Almost everybody's going to be intoxicated after 10 drinks," said Fell, who was not involved in the study.
Binge drinking is a main factor behind the more than 11,000 deaths annually from alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes, said Dr. Timothy Naimi, an epidemiologist with the CDC's alcohol program. He led the study, which was released Tuesday and will be in the October issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
Nearly every state has a law that in theory prohibits licensed establishments from selling alcohol to drunk patrons. But most states don't have enough enforcement personnel to stop in on bars and watch for over-serving of customers.
"These are among the most disregarded laws in the country," Naimi said.
Without policing, there's little incentive for bars, clubs and restaurants to discourage drinking. Tips depend on keeping patrons happy and buying, noted Jim Mosher, a Washington, D.C.-based legal researcher and consultant on alcohol issues.
The American Beverage Institute, a restaurant trade association, had no immediate comment on the study Monday. The organization's Web site promotes efforts to apprehend and penalize drunk drivers, but also notes voluntary server training and other efforts by restaurants to discourage drunk driving.
The CDC study was based on a telephone survey done in 2003 and 2004, and some things have changed since then. Drunk driving fatalities have decreased, dropping nearly 10 percent from 2007 to 2008, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. There have also been a variety of efforts to reduce drunk driving including court-mandated devices that prevent a car from starting if a driver is drunk.
But most efforts focus on punishing the driver and not preventing drunk driving by focusing on those who enable it.
"The drinking location is really important," said Naimi. "We're trusting these licensed establishments to serve responsibly, and more than half of the intoxicated people who drive have been drinking in these places."
A follow-up survey in 2008 found the situation hadn't changed, he added. Those results haven't yet been released.

9.02.09: Things You Never Knew About Tampons!

But Things You Need To Know!

Tampons contain two things that are potentially harmful: Rayon (for absorbency),and dioxin (a chemical used in bleaching the products). The tampon industry is convinced that we, as women, need bleached white products in order to view the product as "PURE" and "CLEAN". The problem here is that the dioxin produced in this bleaching process can lead to very harmful problems for a woman. Dioxin is potentially carcinogenic (cancer-associated) and is toxic to the immune and reproductive systems. It has also been linked to endometriosis and lower sperm counts for men. For both sexes, it breaks down the immune system. Last September, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reported that there really is no set "acceptable" level of exposure to dioxin given that it is cumulative and slow to disintegrate. The real danger comes from repeated contact(Karen Couppert "Pulling the Plug on the Tampon Industry"). I'd say using about 4-5 tampons a day, five days a month, for 38 menstruating years is "repeated contact", wouldn't you? Rayon contributes to the danger of tampons and dioxin because it is a highly bsorbent substance. Therefore, when fibers from the tampons are left behind in the vagina (as usually occurs), it creates a breeding ground for the dioxin. It also stays in a lot longer than it would with just cotton tampons. This is also the reason why TSS (toxic shock syndrome) occurs.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES? Using feminine hygiene products that aren't bleached and that are all cotton. Other feminine hygiene products (pads/napkins) contain dioxin as well, but they are not nearly as dangerous since they are not in direct contact with the vagina. The pads/napkins need to stop bein bleached, but, obviously, tampons are the most dangerous. So, what can you do if you can't give up using tampons? Use tampons that are made from 100% cotton, and that are UNBLEACHED. Unfortunately, there are very few companies that make these safe tampons. They are usually only found in health food stores. Countries all over the world (Sweden, Germany, British Columbia, etc.) have demanded a switch to this safer tampon, while the U.S. has decided to keep us in the dark about it. In 1989, activists in England mounted a campaign against chlorine bleaching. Six weeks and 50,000 letters later, the makers of sanitary products switched to oxygen bleaching (one of the green methods available) (MS magazine,May/June 1995).
WHAT TO DO NOW: Tell people. Everyone. Inform them. We are being manipulated by this industry and the government, let's do something about it! Please write to the companies: Tampax (Tambrands), Playtex, O.B., Kotex. Call the 800 numbers listed on the boxes. Let them know that we demand a safe product - ALL COTTON UNBLEACHED TAMPONS.

This is said with love, I am sorry, please forgive me, thank you...

The Meaning of "Mean"

The word "mean" has many meanings. As a verb, it can indicate definition (Five means 5), significance (a smile means she's happy), or intention (I didn't mean to drop the cup).

In a mathematical context, "mean" is the same as "average".

"Mean" can be used as an adjective for stinginess or miserliness.

When people say that someone is mean, it is usually because the person is intentionally cruel or hurtful.

Someone who is insensitive will hurt people by accident. Someone who is mean will hurt people deliberately.

Song Written in Navy 1983 and our government says that I am not a veteran of US.  How sad huh?  I would rather be blind, crippled and crazy pushing up daisies than to let you hurt me any more......

I don't give a damn....
About the people of Iran....
And I know they don't give a damn about me....

I'd rather be with my honey instead of wasting American money....
You can give these religious wars to the pope....
Because I just wanna go home and give hope....

We've got all of these third world countries knocking on our door....
But they just wanna buy guns to go to war....
Well, I don't think we should help them anymore....

Instead of giving them a helping hand, let them fight for their own land....
Yea!  Let the best man win
That's the way it's always been.
Khomeni don't understand....
That it is everybody's land

But it doesn't take much oil
To spoil a greedy man's brain
This whole situation is insane
